Who We Support

Walker Scottish Rite Clinic

Free speech and language therapy for preschool children in St. Louis — and the event, film and awareness work that keeps it funded.

The Walker Scottish Rite Clinic at Maryville University teaches children ages two through six with speech and language disorders the communication skills they need for school and for life — through early identification, long-term therapy and training parents to carry the work on at home, all at no cost to families.

How We Help

The Clinic has been part of our work since the beginning, and our role has grown from supporter to producer. We began by sponsoring its annual golf outing; by 2022 we had taken over producing and managing the entire event, and we serve as presenting sponsor of the KidTalk Gala. We have also run sporting-clays benefits, funded a highway billboard, joined the Clinic on FOX 2 during Better Hearing & Speech Month, and produced the documentary marking its thirty-fifth anniversary.

The reason for all of it sits in the waiting room. A child who cannot be understood at four is a child who struggles at six, and the Clinic closes that gap for families who could not otherwise afford private therapy. We have told those stories — Burley, Nolan, William, the Stus family — because they are the clearest argument for the work.
