Disaster Relief
When crisis strikes, charity has to become immediate, practical action.
In partnership with the Scottish Rite Supreme Council, Southern Jurisdiction and the Scottish Rite Foundation of Missouri, The LIGHT Foundation supports relief efforts that bring shelter, supplies and help to families in the wake of disasters and emergencies — and gives to a broader range of relief causes wherever there is genuine need.
How We Help
In 2020 that meant moving quickly and repeatedly. We launched a Resource Relief Fund for families whose income disappeared, supplied protective equipment to Gateway 180 and supported families served by the Saint Louis Crisis Nursery — two organizations whose work could not pause or move online. When Hurricane Laura came ashore in southwestern Louisiana, we gave to the Scottish Rite Foundation of Louisiana for families in its path, one of the few times our direct charitable support has reached outside Missouri.
Relief work rarely photographs well and almost never arrives on a convenient schedule. It is simply what a foundation should be able to do on short notice, and we have tried to be the kind of partner that can.
