Rockin’ at the Rite – A LIGHT & Song Experience

On January 13th, 2024 the Scottish Rite Cathedral in St. Louis, MO became the epicenter of a musical extravaganza as the “Rockin’ at the Rite – a LIGHT & Song Experience” benefit concert unfolded. Despite the chill outside, the warmth of music and community filled the grand halls of the Cathedral, all in support of a noble cause – empowering children through the therapeutic power of music.

The event was not just a concert; it was a testament to meaningful collaboration and a shared vision. Two nonprofits, The LIGHT Foundation and The Song Society, orchestrated this remarkable evening, driven by a common belief in the transformative power of music for children facing significant challenges.

At the heart of this partnership lies a commitment to enriching the lives of young individuals through creative expression and therapeutic interventions. The LIGHT Foundation, established in 2016, has been a beacon of hope for youth, connecting them with opportunities that nurture their spirits and minds. One of the Foundation’s notable initiatives is the collaboration with the Scottish Rite RiteCare program, which provides therapeutic intervention for children with speech, language and literacy challenges. The Song Society, comprising board-certified music therapists and seasoned musicians, stands as a bastion of support for children and families grappling with life-altering medical conditions. Through therapeutic songwriting, recording sessions, and supportive performances, The Song Society uplifts what they affectionately term as “Elite Members”- children aged five and above navigating through the complexities of chronic illnesses.

Headlining the event was none other than St. Louis Rock Legends, SuperJam, whose electrifying performance added an extra layer of excitement and energy to the already vibrant atmosphere. The echoes of guitars and the rhythm of drums reverberated through the Cathedral, uniting everyone present in a collective celebration of music and community. Emceeing the event was Lern from the Rizzuto Show at 105.7 The Point, bringing her signature energy and humor as she guided the audience through the evening’s performances, while highlighting the importance of the cause.

The “Rockin’ at the Rite” benefit concert wasn’t just about showcasing talent; it was about amplifying voices and spreading hope. Throughout the evening, three performances by Elite Members of The Song Society captivated the audience, serving as poignant reminders of the resilience and inherent strength in every child. As for attendees, it was more than just a night of entertainment; it was an opportunity to make a difference. An impactful call-for-cash segment punctuated the evening, rallying attendees to contribute generously to the cause. The outpouring of support underscored the community’s commitment to making a meaningful difference in the lives of children facing adversity. Every note played and every chord struck carried with it the promise of brighter tomorrows for the children served by The LIGHT Foundation,  The Song Society. It was a reminder that in the harmony of compassion and generosity, lives can be transformed.

This collaboration holds deep significance as it unites The LIGHT Foundation and The Song Society under a shared objective: to offer life-impacting opportunities to children in need. The intentional synergy between our organizations exemplifies a commitment to inspiring the voices of children, making it an incredibly impactful endeavor. This benefit concert truly connected us all on a journey of LIGHT and Song, and of course, a rockin’ good time! The concert was a testament to the power of collaboration and the profound impact that music can have on young hearts and minds.

In the end, as the final chords faded away, what remained was a sense of unity and purpose – a reminder that together, we can create a world where every child’s voice is heard, and every spirit is lifted. And as the lights dimmed and the applause subsided, the legacy of “Rockin’ at the Rite” continued to resonate, inspiring hope and spreading joy in its wake.

Special thanks to our venue host, the Valley of St. Louis Scottish Rite, and all of the sponsors, donors, concert attendees, volunteers, and planning committee members who dedicated their time, resources, and efforts to make this night possible. Your support and commitment to these meaningful causes is deeply appreciated and have made a significant impact on the lives of the children.
